Staff Safety in the Workplace

SRT Béja has been a member of the Occupational Medicine Group of Sfax (G.M.T.) since its creation in 2003. The G.M.T. is committed to providing SRT Béja staff with the medical and social services stipulated by current regulations, particularly the Labor Code.

For staff, SRT Béja drivers regularly participate in
training programs on road safety,
fuel-efficient driving, and first aid to minimize accident risks.
Technical and administrative staff benefit from specific training and
refresher programs to enhance safety.
For the fleet, in addition to safety equipment required by law
(first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc.),
SRT Béja provides technicians with modern equipment and
advanced tools for vehicle maintenance, such as
brake test benches, opacimeters, etc.
Repair workshops are regularly maintained to comply with hygiene and safety standards.
In addition to work uniforms, technical staff are provided with essential protective gear
(safety shoes, masks, helmets, earplugs, etc.).
Firefighting equipment such as extinguishers, R.I.A., hydrants, etc., are
installed across buildings to prevent fire hazards.
For electrical risks, SRT Béja collaborates with a specialized inspection agency
to conduct regular checks, repairs, and maintenance of electrical installations.
To support national anti-pollution efforts,
measures are taken to maintain a healthy work environment, particularly
in repair workshops.

Road and Passenger Safety

As part of the national strategy to minimize accident risks and resulting damages, road and passenger safety remains a core priority in SRT Béja's overall policy.

  • Structures responsible for road and passenger safety:
  • The "Quality, Safety, and Communication Department" (S.Q.C).

Established in June 1997, the SQC, which reports directly to the General Management, handles, among other tasks, monitoring, statistics, analysis, and addressing accident causes to propose appropriate solutions.

The Inspection Department Health and Safety Committee
Among their duties, controllers and road inspectors daily monitor
driver behavior across SRT Béja's urban,
regional, and intercity networks, reporting any infractions
that could impact road and passenger safety.
A Health and Safety Committee is established at
SRT Béja, comprising representatives from General Management,
staff, the medical-social unit, and the occupational physician.
The committee meets periodically to analyze
and monitor professional risks related to facility layouts,
road accidents, and equipment provided to staff.
It also proposes tailored training programs
and solutions for workplace and road safety issues.

Mobile Road Safety Team:

Formed in 2006, this team includes managers and department heads. Its mission is to conduct scheduled or surprise checks across SRT Béja's network, particularly at accident-prone areas, to encourage drivers to follow traffic rules. Reports from this team lead to disciplinary actions and targeted training programs.

Emergency Response Team for Accidents:

This team, composed of administrative, social, and legal staff, intervenes in accidents to assist victims and coordinate with authorities (Police, National Guard, Civil Protection, Hospitals, etc.).

Accident Analysis Observatory:

Representatives from legal, social, quality-safety, and communication departments analyze accidents to propose measures enhancing road safety at SRT Béja.

Annual Safety Awareness Campaign:

  • Beyond training, SRT Béja organizes yearly awareness campaigns for drivers and technicians to reduce accident risks, involving civil society groups like the Tunisian Road Prevention Association.
  • Outstanding drivers are awarded for exemplary road safety practices.

IT Security

The IT department maintains the information system and hardware. IT security measures include:

  • Implementing security policies.
  • Ensuring database reliability and access control effectiveness.
  • Enforcing authentication, authorization, traceability, and audit rules.
  • Local backups.
  • System access control.
  • Internet security.
  • Logging, archiving, backups, and maintenance.
  • Workstation access control and antivirus protection.

Health and Safety Committee

SRT Béja's Health and Safety Committee includes management, staff, medical, and occupational physician representatives. It periodically reviews workplace risks related to facilities and equipment, proposing training and safety solutions.
